Protect Your Hearing: Keep the Sound Level at 85 dB

Oranjestad, Feb. 1, 2025 - The Department of Public Health Aruba (DVG) on January 24, 2025 officially published a directive in the Landscourant on the production and management of noise levels for the protection of hearing.

DVG has been working for years with various stakeholders to raise awareness about hearing protection and the use of earplugs in musical activities. Now is the time to also involve sound companies in this important mission. Reducing noise levels to healthy levels benefits not only employees and spectators, but also children, young people and the elderly - in short, the entire community.

With the carnival season in full swing, with both outdoor and indoor events being organized, DVG advises that sound production should be handled responsibly. The new guidelines can be downloaded from the website www.dvg.aw.

Protecting our hearing requires not only that individuals wear earplugs, but also that technicians, sound companies, DJs and event organizers commit to responsible noise management. DVG is calling on everyone to help out and reduce noise levels at 85 decibels to keep, so that everyone can enjoy carnival to the fullest without hearing damage.
