Oranjestad, December 4, 2024 - The Electoral College of Aruba informs all voters to follow the following procedure and rules to ensure a democratic process for the Election of December 6, 2024.
Procedures
- Hand over your documents
- Hand over to the chairperson of the ballot box your ballot paper and valid identification.
- Recording your voice
- The chairman and two members of the ballot box will check and confirm the number on your ballot, and your information will be recorded in the voter register.
- Get your ballot
- It is mandatory to receive your ballot in a sealed envelope so that the signature of the President of the Electoral College is visible.
- Choose and Vote
- Open the ballot in the envelope and mark the boxes next to the name of the candidate of your choice with the pencil provided in the envelope.
- Error while voting?
- If you make a mistake while voting, report it to the chairperson of the ballot box to get a new voting opportunity. This is allowed once per voter.
- Deposit your vote
- Before leaving the envelope, fold the ballot again so that the signature of the Electoral College President remains visible and deposit it in the ballot box. If this is not done, the ballot will not be used and the vote will be invalidated.
- Need help?
- If you need assistance in voting due to physical limitations (e.g., poor eyesight or disability), you should indicate this to the chairperson of the ballot box to get help from a person you trust.
Rules The chairperson of each ballot box is responsible for maintaining order within the ballot box. Follow their instructions and the following rules to ensure a quiet, free and secret ballot.
It is not permitted to:
- Using a cell phone and/or taking pictures at the ballot box.
- Recordings to be made in the ballot box.
- To eat and/or drink at the ballot box.
- To smoke in the ballot box.
