Governor of Aruba starts consultations after election results

Oranjestad, Dec. 7, 2024 - In the aftermath of the December 6 State elections, His Excellency Governor Alfonso Boekhoudt received preliminary election results on Saturday morning, December 7. During an audience at the Governor's Office, he discussed the conduct of the elections with Rosslin Marchena and Grasita Griffith, chairman and deputy chairman of the chief electoral college, respectively.

The Governor will begin consultation talks with various advisory bodies and list makers on Monday, December 9. These conversations are intended to inform on the options for the formation of a new cabinet. The consultations will begin with talks with State Chairman Raymond Kamperveen and various institutional representatives, including Marion Agunbero (CAft), David Kock (Advisory Council), Hose Figaroa (SER), and Xiomara Croes-Williams (General Audit Office).

On Tuesday, December 10, the list leaders of parties that won at least one seat will be invited. These are Wendrick Cicilia (AVP), Evelyn Wever-Croes (MEP), Gerlien Croes (Futuro), and Otmar Oduber (PPA). The process is expected to conclude on Wednesday, December 11, after which an informateur will be appointed to guide a new government formation.

The consultations mark an important step in the formation of a new government for Aruba.
