ORANJESTAD \u2014 Biblioteca Nacional Aruba heeft samen met creatief directeur, modeontwerper en curator Maria Teresa Madariaga de speciale publicatie Capital Humano \u2026 entre Buki y Arte<\/em> gepresenteerd. De uitgave verschijnt in het kader van de viering van 75 jaar bibliotheekwerk op Aruba.<\/p>\n

De publicatie biedt een overzicht van kunstwerken die deel uitmaken van de nationale collectie van de bibliotheek. Het gaat om onder meer schilderijen, sculpturen, mixed media en muurschilderingen van lokale kunstenaars. Volgens de bibliotheek vormt elke creatie een eigen verhaal en draagt de collectie bij aan de beleving van de openbare ruimte, toegankelijk voor bezoekers van alle leeftijden.<\/p>\n

Madariaga werkte voor het project samen met grafisch ontwerper en fotograaf Dennison Abrahams. Directeur van Biblioteca Nacional Aruba Astrid Britten presenteert de uitgave met trots.<\/p>\n

In de publicatie staat de rol van publieke kunst binnen de openbare bibliotheek centraal. De bibliotheek benadrukt dat verhalen niet alleen in boeken te vinden zijn, maar ook zichtbaar zijn op muren en zelfs aan de buitenzijde van het gebouw. De kunstwerken zijn volgens de organisatie meer dan decoratie: zij moeten belangstelling wekken, gesprekken op gang brengen en verschillende perspectieven op het leven tonen.<\/p>\n

In Capital Humano \u2026 entre Buki y Arte<\/em> zijn werken opgenomen van Theo Brinkman, Belinda de Veer, Luis Alonso Casta\u00f1o Benjumea, Nelson E. Gonzalez, Danilo Geerman, Natusha Croes, Maria LaTorre, Samuel Sarmiento, Robby Solognier, Wouter van Romondt, J.C. Lampe, Stan Kuiperi, Ciro Abath, Eefje van der Straten, Elvis Tromp, Olga van Bochove, Gina Jie Sam Foek, Gustave Nouel, Vanessa Paulina, Jenny Kock, Irene Peterson, Maritza Erasmus, King Lie Kwie, Elvis Lopez, Piet Vervoord, Alida Martinez, J. Donati, Armando Goedgedrag, Elisa Lejuez, Romelinda Maldonado, Cado de Lannoy, Ephraim R. Britten, Nigel Matthew, Pandellis, Evelino Fingal en Gerard E. Alers.<\/p>\n

In het voorwoord stelt Britten dat Biblioteca Nacional Aruba beschikt over een eigen kunstcollectie, opgebouwd uit werken van lokale kunstenaars die hun kunst wilden delen in een publieke, voor iedereen toegankelijke ruimte. Met de publicatie wil de bibliotheek de intellectuele en creatieve waarde van deze verzameling benadrukken.<\/p>\n

Volgens Britten zet de bibliotheek zich in voor drie maatschappelijke kerntaken: geletterdheid, participatie in de informatiesamenleving en een leven lang leren. Zij noemt de bibliotheek een plek met oog en hart voor verleden, heden en toekomst. Ook wijst zij op het belang van samenwerking met andere organisaties, zodat de bibliotheek een platform kan blijven voor de uitwisseling van idee\u00ebn, kennis, informatie, verhalen en ervaringen.<\/p>\n

De jubileumuitgave sluit aan bij de bredere viering van 75 jaar Biblioteca Nacional Aruba. De bibliotheek biedt daarnaast gratis lidmaatschap aan voor baby\u2019s, kinderen en jongeren tot 18 jaar en beschikt over studie- en ontmoetingsruimtes, computers met internet, gratis wifi, e-books en audioboeken.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
