De bijeenkomst vond plaats in de vergaderzaal van het parlement.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens MEP-parlementari\u00ebr Shailiny Tromp-Lee bood de ontmoeting de leerlingen de gelegenheid om rechtstreeks vragen te stellen over de werkwijze van het parlement, de besluitvorming, het proces van het opstellen en goedkeuren van wetten en de invloed van fracties op belangrijke besluiten.<\/p>\n<p>Tromp-Lee spreekt van een gemotiveerde en goed voorbereide groep leerlingen, die volgens haar veel belangstelling toonde voor politieke ontwikkelingen. Tijdens de bijeenkomst kwamen onder meer vragen aan bod over de vorming van de huidige regering, het screeningproces, corruptie en integriteit.<\/p>\n<p>De parlementari\u00ebr noemt het van belang dat jongeren inzicht krijgen in hun rol binnen de democratische ontwikkeling van Aruba. Daarbij wees zij ook op het belang van kennis over de politieke structuur van het land, in het bijzonder het verschil tussen regering en parlement.<\/p>\n<p>Zij bedankte de docenten van Colegio Nigel Matthew voor het initiatief om het educatieve bezoek aan te vragen. Volgens Tromp-Lee dragen dit soort ontmoetingen eraan bij om het parlement dichter bij de bevolking te brengen en de maatschappelijke en politieke betrokkenheid van jongeren te stimuleren.<\/p>\n<p>Het bezoek maakte deel uit van de bredere inspanning om jongeren al op jonge leeftijd kennis te laten maken met de democratische instituties van Aruba.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Twee klassen van havo 4 van Colegio Nigel Matthew hebben vrijdag een educatief bezoek gebracht aan het Parlement van Aruba.
