ORANJESTAD \u2014 Het Museo Arqueologico Nacional Aruba (MANA) heeft twee nieuwe tijdelijke tentoonstellingen geopend voor het publiek. Bezoekers kunnen van maandag tot en met vrijdag tussen 9.00 en 17.00 uur terecht voor de exposities Origen Caribense, den Pret y Fantasia<\/em> en Old Cunucu Houses<\/em>.<\/p>\n

De tentoonstelling Origen Caribense, den Pret y Fantasia<\/em> is ingericht in het gebouw \u2018Fruteria\u2019 en is te bezichtigen tot en met 11 juli. De expositie is een eerbetoon aan 25 jaar deelname van carnavaliste Rita Werleman aan \u2018Los Laga Bai\u2019, evenals aan haar optredens tijdens Calypso- en Roadmarch-festivals als \u2018Queen Hortense y su Decibels\u2019.<\/p>\n

Voor deze tentoonstelling is ook een documentaire samengesteld over de ontwikkeling van Werleman als carnavaliste en als componist en zangeres. Kostuums en portretten laten zien hoe de carnavalsstijl zich door de jaren heen heeft ontwikkeld. Bezoekers kunnen daarnaast genieten van carnavalsmuziek.<\/p>\n

De tentoonstelling Old Cunucu Houses<\/em> is nog te zien tot en met 4 juli in \u2018Hadrey di MANA\u2019. Deze expositie is het resultaat van een artistieke workshop van twaalf weken in het auditorium van het museum, waarbij jongeren van 10 tot 18 jaar werden begeleid door kunstenares Jo-ann Kock-Ridderstap.<\/p>\n

Tijdens het drie maanden durende traject maakten de deelnemers kennis met verschillende kunstvormen en met elementen van de Arubaanse cultuur. Zij werkten onder meer met schetstechnieken, acrylverf en schaduwtechnieken. Ook namen zij deel aan een monumententocht en verdiepten zij zich in de geschiedenis van de voorouders in MANA.<\/p>\n

Daarnaast deden de jongeren, samen met hun ouders en in samenwerking met Monuments Office, onderzoek naar een cunucuhuis van hun keuze. De tentoonstelling werd op 7 juni voor het publiek geopend en kreeg volgens MANA een positieve ontvangst tijdens de openingsavond.<\/p>\n
