ORANJESTAD \u2014 Voormalig minister van Financi\u00ebn Xiomara Maduro heeft haar tevredenheid uitgesproken over de positieve beoordeling van Aruba in het recente rapport van Fitch Ratings, getiteld Caribbean Credit Profiles Improve, but Structural Challenges Remain<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Volgens Maduro is de verbeterde positie van Aruba een erkenning voor het werk van het Arubaanse team van professionals dat zij in haar ambtsperiode heeft geleid. Zij stelt dat het resultaat een positief signaal afgeeft aan investeerders.<\/p>\n

In het rapport staat dat Fitch Ratings in maart 2025 de kredietwaardigheid van Aruba heeft verhoogd van \u2018BB+\u2019 naar \u2018BBB-\u2019, met behoud van een positieve vooruitblik. Volgens het ratingbureau weerspiegelt die verhoging de vooruitgang bij het terugdringen van de staatsschuld, ondersteund door hoge fiscale overschotten in de afgelopen drie jaar en de succesvolle invoering van fiscale hervormingen.<\/p>\n

Fitch meldt verder dat Aruba in 2024 een fiscaal overschot van 2,6 procent van het bruto binnenlands product (bbp) heeft gerealiseerd. De overheidsschuld daalde daarbij van 100,1 procent van het bbp naar 66,0 procent van het bbp.<\/p>\n

Het fiscale kader omvat onder meer een doelstelling voor een overschot van 1 procent van het bbp, een schuldreductie naar 70 procent van het bbp in 2031 en 50 procent in 2040. Ook geldt een limiet voor personeelsuitgaven van 10 procent van het bbp.<\/p>\n

Tegelijkertijd wijst Fitch op structurele uitdagingen voor Aruba, zoals de sterke afhankelijkheid van toerisme en de kwetsbaarheid voor externe schokken. Desondanks concludeert het rapport dat Aruba zich op een positieve koers bevindt.<\/p>\n

Maduro spreekt de hoop uit dat de gunstige beoordeling het huidige kabinet en Arubaanse professionals zal stimuleren om verder te werken aan duurzame overheidsfinanci\u00ebn, met het welzijn van de bevolking als prioriteit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
