PHILIPSBURG<\/strong> \u2014 De Tijdelijke Werkorganisatie (TWO) heeft een subsidie van Cg 1,1 miljoen goedgekeurd voor het zogeheten Advanced MSME Education Program in Sint Maarten. Het programma is bedoeld om ondernemerschap en de kennispositie van micro-, kleine en middelgrote ondernemingen te versterken.<\/p>\n

De uitvoering komt in handen van de Sint Maarten Entrepreneurship Development Center Foundation (SEDC). Het programma loopt drie jaar en maakt deel uit van het Landspakket van Sint Maarten, onder thema E6. Volgens TWO sluit het initiatief aan bij bredere hervormingen die het ondernemingsklimaat op het eiland moeten verbeteren.<\/p>\n

Het project is gebaseerd op het Plan van Aanpak dat op 23 oktober 2023 door de Raad van Ministers is goedgekeurd. Doel is om ondernemers beter toegang te geven tot kennis, vaardigheden en begeleiding.<\/p>\n

Het onderwijsprogramma omvat sectorgerichte opleidingen en workshops voor capaciteitsopbouw, aangevuld met online en hybride trainingen in onder meer belastingnaleving, administratie en arbeidswetgeving. Ook is coaching voorzien voor startende ondernemers. Daarnaast moet het programma ondernemerschap sterker verankeren in het lokale onderwijs, onder meer via stages, en aandacht geven aan duurzaam en maatschappelijk verantwoord ondernemen.<\/p>\n

Verder zijn sectoroverleggen, workshops voor kleine en middelgrote bedrijven, sectorontwikkelingsprojecten en diploma-opleidingen voorzien, afgestemd op de behoeften binnen verschillende bedrijfstakken.<\/p>\n

SEDC voert het programma uit in samenwerking met het in Ierland gevestigde International Trade Institute (ITI). De uitvoering staat onder toezicht van het ministerie van TEATT en wordt ondersteund door TWO. Er zijn afspraken gemaakt over periodieke voortgangsrapportages en financi\u00eble verantwoording om toezicht te houden op de besteding van de middelen.<\/p>\n

Het budget van Cg 1,1 miljoen wordt vanaf 2025 in drie jaar uitgekeerd. Volgens TWO mag de subsidie uitsluitend worden gebruikt voor onderwijsactiviteiten binnen het programma en moet deze aansluiten bij het nationale beleidskader voor het mkb in Sint Maarten.<\/p>\n

SXM-liaison van TWO Leona Romeo stelt in een toelichting dat met investeringen in praktijkgerichte bedrijfsvaardigheden wordt gewerkt aan een veerkrachtiger en concurrerender mkb-segment, dat van belang is voor duurzame economische groei.<\/p>\n
