Mauritsz de Kort"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Den Haag \/ Willemstad \u2013 29 oktober 2025<\/strong> &#8211; Zijne Majesteit de Koning heeft woensdagmorgen op Paleis Noordeinde in Den Haag Zijne Excellentie mr. M.J. (Mauritsz) de Kort be\u00ebdigd als nieuwe gouverneur van Cura\u00e7ao. De Kort zal zijn ambt officieel aanvaarden op <strong>4 november 2025<\/strong>, waarmee hij de huidige gouverneur <strong>Lucille George-Wout<\/strong> opvolgt, wier tweede termijn die dag afloopt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mauritsz de Kort werd in <strong>1973 op Aruba<\/strong> geboren en groeide daar ook op. Hij volgde het <strong>VWO aan het Colegio Arubano<\/strong> en studeerde vervolgens in Nederland, waar hij een HEAO-opleiding in Arnhem afrondde. Daarna behaalde hij zijn <strong>master in rechten aan de Universiteit Leiden<\/strong> en volgde een <strong>postdoctorale opleiding aan de University of London<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De Kort begon zijn loopbaan als advocaat op de eilanden en werd in 2011 benoemd tot rechter bij het <strong>Gemeenschappelijk Hof van Justitie<\/strong> van Aruba, Cura\u00e7ao, Sint Maarten en van Bonaire, Sint Eustatius en Saba. In 2017 werd hij vice-president van de vestigingen Cura\u00e7ao en Bonaire en in januari 2022 benoemd tot <strong>president van het Gemeenschappelijk Hof<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zijn benoeming tot gouverneur werd op <strong>30 juni 2025<\/strong> door de <strong>Rijksministerraad<\/strong> goedgekeurd. Volgens de Nederlandse regering brengt De Kort \u201cjarenlange ervaring binnen de rechtspraak en een diep begrip van de bestuursstructuren in het Koninkrijk\u201d met zich mee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Als gouverneur vertegenwoordigt De Kort de Koning op Cura\u00e7ao en vormt hij het constitutionele hoofd van de regering van het land. In die rol bewaakt hij de deugdelijkheid van bestuur, tekent hij landsverordeningen af en onderhoudt hij het offici\u00eble contact tussen het Koninkrijk en Cura\u00e7ao. Zijn benoeming geldt voor een termijn van <strong>zes jaar<\/strong>, met de mogelijkheid tot herbenoeming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Met de komst van De Kort wordt een tijdperk afgesloten waarin Lucille George-Wout ruim tien jaar het gezicht was van het land richting het Koninkrijk.
