Londen geldt momenteel als de grootste goudmarkt ter wereld. Net als in de Britse hoofdstad zullen deelnemers aan het Hongkongse systeem hun transacties kunnen afwikkelen via zogenoemde niet-toegewezen rekeningen. Dat betekent dat handelaren geen aanspraak maken op specifieke fysieke goudstaven, maar een algemene vordering op goud aanhouden bij een bewaarder.<\/p>\n<p>Dit initiatief past in een bredere strategie van Hongkong om zijn positie als financieel knooppunt in Azi\u00eb te versterken.
