ORANJESTAD \u2014 Oppositiepartij MEP heeft gereageerd op de aankondiging van het kabinet-AVP Futuro om 50 procent van de sterke prijsstijging van petroleumproducten te absorberen. Volgens de partij is die verlichting voor consumenten alleen mogelijk dankzij de solide financi\u00eble basis die eerder door MEP is opgebouwd tijdens het kabinet-Wever-Croes.<\/p>\n

In een verklaring benadrukt MEP dat tijdens haar regeerperiode moeilijke maar noodzakelijke beslissingen zijn genomen om de overheidsfinanci\u00ebn van Aruba op een duurzaam spoor te zetten. Daarbij wijst de partij op het versterken van de publieke middelen, het herstellen van het vertrouwen van investeerders en het cre\u00ebren van financi\u00eble stabiliteit.<\/p>\n

Volgens MEP zou Aruba zonder dat beleid niet over de financi\u00eble ruimte beschikken om een deel van de internationale stijging van brandstofprijzen op te vangen.<\/p>\n

Partijleider Evelyn Wever-Croes stelt in de verklaring dat de beslissingen uit het verleden nu hun waarde bewijzen, nu Aruba volgens haar over een buffer beschikt om externe schokken op te vangen.<\/p>\n

De voormalige minister-president voegt eraan toe dat MEP iedere maatregel steunt die de lasten voor de bevolking helpt verlichten, maar dat volgens haar ook moet worden erkend waar de huidige financi\u00eble draagkracht vandaan komt.<\/p>\n

MEP zegt zich als constructieve oppositie te blijven inzetten voor toezicht op het beheer van de overheidsfinanci\u00ebn en voor het bewaken van het algemeen belang.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
