ORANJESTAD<\/strong> \u2013 De Directie Natuur en Milieu (DNM) neemt ook in 2026 opnieuw deel aan Earth Hour, de internationale bewustwordingscampagne van het Wereld Natuur Fonds (WWF). Als symbool van betrokkenheid bij natuur en klimaat worden op zaterdag 28 maart tussen 20.30 en 21.30 uur de lichten gedoofd van het monumentale gebouw Uncle Louis Store in San Nicolas, waar DNM is gevestigd.<\/p>\n

Earth Hour is een jaarlijks initiatief van het WWF dat in 2007 van start ging. Met de campagne wordt wereldwijd aandacht gevraagd voor klimaatverandering en het belang van natuurbescherming.<\/p>\n

Volgens DNM is de actie bedoeld als een krachtig signaal van bewustwording. In samenwerking met het team van WWF-Nederland roept de dienst overheidsinstanties, bedrijven en vooral de gemeenschap op Aruba op om mee te doen. Voor \u00e9\u00e9n uur wordt gevraagd niet-essenti\u00eble verlichting uit te schakelen, om zo stil te staan bij de noodzaak van klimaatactie.<\/p>\n

WWF wil dit jaar het aantal deelnemende gebouwen en herkenningspunten binnen het Koninkrijk verder uitbreiden, om de boodschap extra kracht bij te zetten.<\/p>\n

DNM wijst erop dat ook inwoners zelf eenvoudig kunnen deelnemen. Thuis kunnen tussen 20.30 en 21.30 uur de binnen- en buitenverlichting worden uitgeschakeld. Daarnaast kan deelname via sociale media worden gedeeld met de hashtag #earthhour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Organisaties die de actie intern willen promoten, kunnen gebruikmaken van een digitale toolkit met flyers en beeldmateriaal via www.wwfdutchcaribbean.org\/earthhour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Met de deelname aan Earth Hour wil DNM benadrukken dat ook Aruba aandacht vraagt voor de waarde van natuur en milieu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
