Francio Guadeloupe, bijzonder hoogleraar Publieke Antropologie van Koninkrijksrelaties. Met zijn rede aanvaardde Guadeloupe officieel de leerstoel.<\/p>\n<p>De oratie droeg de titel <em>Reweaving Dutch Caribbean Studies<\/em> en ging in op verschillende onderdelen van zijn onderzoek. Guadeloupe belicht daarin onder meer vragen rond identiteit, migratie en de manier waarop mensen binnen de verschillende landen van het Koninkrijk betekenis geven aan hun leven.<\/p>\n<p>In zijn rede gebruikte de hoogleraar voorbeelden uit ontmoetingen en gesprekken met personen uit de regio en daarbuiten. Daarbij stond centraal hoe identiteit wordt beleefd en gevormd, onder meer in relatie tot verplaatsing tussen de landen van het Koninkrijk. Ook besteedde hij aandacht aan de toerismesector in het Caribisch gebied en de gevolgen daarvan voor de eilanden.<\/p>\n<p>Verder uitte Guadeloupe in zijn onderzoek kritiek op de manier waarop Latijns-Amerikaans personeel in sommige gevallen wordt behandeld en bekeken. Volgens hem hangen dergelijke ervaringen samen met bredere sociale en economische verhoudingen binnen de regio.<\/p>\n<p>Als antropoloog richt Guadeloupe zich in zijn werk op vier onderzoeksgebieden, die alle verband houden met identiteit, mobiliteit en maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen binnen het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden.<\/p>\n<p>Aan het einde van de plechtigheid feliciteerde minister Schwengle de Arubaanse wetenschapper met zijn benoeming. Zij sprak van een prestatie waar Aruba trots op is en noemde de aanvaarding van de leerstoel een bekroning op zijn werk en onderzoek.<\/p>\n<p>Guadeloupe is verbonden aan het Koninklijk Instituut voor Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde (KITLV) en aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gevolmachtigde minister Mildred Schwengle heeft in Den Haag de oratie bijgewoond van prof. dr.
