ORANJESTAD \u2013 Oppositiepartij MEP heeft AVP-parlementari\u00ebr Carlos Bermudez opgeroepen om zich openlijk uit te spreken over de huidige voorstellen rond financieel toezicht op Aruba.<\/p>\n

In een verklaring stelt MEP dat Bermudez zich volgens de partij te veel verschuilt achter eerdere afspraken die in 2024 zijn gemaakt. De partij benadrukt dat het bestuursakkoord dat toen door voormalig premier Evelyn Wever-Croes werd ondertekend, niet hetzelfde is als de regeling die nu voorligt.<\/p>\n

Volgens MEP gaat het bij het akkoord uit 2024 om een bestuurlijk akkoord van twee pagina\u2019s, bedoeld als basis om onderhandelingen op te starten. De partij zet dat af tegen de Rijkswet Hofa, die volgens de verklaring vijftig pagina\u2019s telt en inmiddels door andere betrokken bestuurders is ondertekend.<\/p>\n

MEP stelt dat er een groot verschil bestaat tussen beide documenten. Volgens de partij was het akkoord van Wever-Croes bedoeld om gesprekken te beginnen, terwijl de huidige regeling het resultaat is van afgeronde onderhandelingen. Juist die uitkomst is volgens MEP ongunstig voor Aruba.<\/p>\n

De partij voert aan dat het voorstel zoals het nu op tafel ligt nadelig is voor het land, niet noodzakelijk zou zijn en bovendien in strijd zou zijn met de Arubaanse constitutie. In de verklaring zegt MEP verder dat Wever-Croes een dergelijke uiteindelijke versie zelf zou hebben afgewezen met het argument dat Aruba het zelfstandig aankan.<\/p>\n

MEP besluit met de vraag of Bermudez die opvatting deelt en roept hem op om niet langer op de achtergrond te blijven, maar zijn eigen positie kenbaar te maken.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
