Daarmee werd destijds een belangrijke stap gezet in de ontwikkeling van de instelling als bewaarder van kennis, geschiedenis en cultuur van Aruba.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens parlementari\u00ebr Xiomara Maduro is de bibliotheek sinds haar oprichting uitgegroeid tot een belangrijk centrum voor studie, onderzoek en onderwijs. In de afgelopen decennia heeft de instelling zich toegelegd op het verzamelen, bewaren en delen van publicaties, historische documenten en waardevolle informatie over Aruba en haar bevolking.<\/p>\n<p>Ter markering van de gelegenheid werd een watapana geplant. Deze boom staat symbool voor kracht, veerkracht en groei, en weerspiegelt daarmee ook de rol die de bibliotheek binnen de Arubaanse gemeenschap vervult.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro was bij de plechtigheid aanwezig om de directie en het personeel van de Nationale Bibliotheek te feliciteren en te bedanken voor hun voortdurende inzet en dienstverlening aan de gemeenschap.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>De Nationale Bibliotheek van Aruba heeft op 3 maart stilgestaan bij een bijzonder jubileum: veertig jaar geleden veranderde de toenmalige Openbare Bibliotheek officieel van naam.
