SAN NICOLAS \u2014 Art Rap Foundation presenteert op vrijdag 13 maart om 19.30 uur de tentoonstelling Marooning Practices<\/em> in het Esquire Building aan de Bernard van de Veen Zeppenfeldstraat 67 in San Nicolas. De expositie vormt de afsluiting van de kunstenaarsresidentie Echoes of the Islands: From Stories to Archives<\/em>. De toegang is gratis en het evenement is open voor het publiek.<\/p>\n

Volgens de organisatie brengt de tentoonstelling resident- en lokale kunstenaars samen die in hun werk vrijheid benaderen als een actuele en veranderlijke toestand, en niet uitsluitend als een historisch gegeven. Daarbij staat San Nicolas centraal als stad met een gelaagde geschiedenis en een diverse bevolking.<\/p>\n

Aan de residentie namen Jafer Cruz Cordero uit Puerto Rico en Raily Yance uit Colombia-Venezuela deel. Hun werk wordt getoond naast dat van de Arubaanse kunstenaars Alida Martinez, Natusha Croes, Olga van Bochove en Velvet Zo\u00e9 Ramos. Daarmee wil de organisatie een dialoog tussen internationale en lokale perspectieven tot stand brengen.<\/p>\n

De tentoonstelling is samengesteld door Nelson Gonzalez uit Aruba, met Gerardo Zavarce als curatoriaal adviseur en David Guerra als gastcurator. In de expositie staan archieven, gemeenschapskennis en hedendaagse interpretaties van herinnering, territorium en verbondenheid centraal.<\/p>\n

Het project is mede mogelijk gemaakt met steun van Cultuurfonds Caribisch Gebied via het DNB Fonds, VNO, het Mondriaan Fonds en Art Rap Foundation.<\/p>\n
