Met de donatie wil de familie iets terugdoen voor de zorginstelling waar hij in de laatste fase van zijn leven verbleef.<\/p>\n<p>Lopez was op Aruba en Sint Maarten bekend als voormalig marathonloper en triatleet. Hij leefde 26 jaar met de ziekte van Parkinson. Ondanks zijn aandoening bleef hij zich volgens de familie inzetten voor anderen, onder meer via begeleiding van jongeren en projecten rond sport en gezondheid.<\/p>\n<p>Sinds 2017 woonde Lopez weer op Aruba. Vanaf juni 2025 verbleef hij in SABA, waar hij de zorg kreeg die hij nodig had. In november 2025 werd nog aandacht gevraagd voor zijn situatie tijdens de symbolische actie <em>Laatste Race van Fijn Lopez: Beter en beter, elke dag<\/em>, waarmee geld werd ingezameld voor SABA.<\/p>\n<p>De recente schenking van zorgbedden geldt als vervolg op dat initiatief. Volgens de familie is ervoor gekozen om SABA concreet te ondersteunen met materiaal dat direct ten goede komt aan de bewoners en de dagelijkse zorg.<\/p>\n<p>Met de donatie wil de familie de nagedachtenis aan Lopez levend houden en tegelijk bijdragen aan betere zorg voor ouderen op Aruba.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>De familie van Francisco \u2018Fijn\u2019 Lopez heeft zorgbedden geschonken aan verzorgingstehuis SABA op Aruba.
