ORANJESTAD<\/strong> \u2013 MEP-fractieleider Evelyn Wever-Croes heeft tijdens een persconferentie verklaard dat Aruba zijn financi\u00ebn zelfstandig kan beheren en daarvoor geen rijkswet HOFA nodig heeft. Volgens haar is de huidige financi\u00eble stabiliteit het resultaat van het beleid en het financi\u00eble team van het kabinet-Wever-Croes.<\/p>\n

Wever-Croes zei dat Nederland Aruba in het verleden meerdere keren onder strenger financieel toezicht heeft willen plaatsen. Zij verwees daarbij naar voorstellen als CHE, COHO en RAFT, die volgens haar bedoeld waren om de financi\u00eble autonomie van Aruba via een rijkswet te beperken. Volgens de oppositieleider is het Aruba destijds gelukt om die plannen van tafel te krijgen door intensieve onderhandelingen, een gerichte strategie en het tonen van verantwoord financieel beheer.<\/p>\n

Volgens Wever-Croes heeft Aruba aan het Koninkrijk en internationaal laten zien dat het land economisch herstel en versterking kan realiseren op basis van een stabiele financi\u00eble fundering en de mogelijkheden die de Status Aparte biedt. Daarom begrijpt zij naar eigen zeggen niet dat de huidige AVP\/Futuro-regering de rijkswet HOFA zonder onderhandelingen heeft aanvaard.<\/p>\n

Zij noemde HOFA een wet die volgens haar indruist tegen de Arubaanse constitutie en de economische ontwikkeling van het land afremt. Wever-Croes stelde verder dat de regering nu alsnog opnieuw met Nederland wil gaan onderhandelen, nadat de wet op 28 augustus 2025 al was goedgekeurd. Volgens haar toont dat aan dat het kabinet geen duidelijke koers heeft.<\/p>\n

De MEP-politica zei ook dat Aruba volgens haar in staat is om de schulden aan Nederland terug te betalen zonder afstand te doen van de financi\u00eble autonomie. Zij verwees daarbij naar de financi\u00eble basis die volgens haar in eerdere jaren is gelegd onder leiding van toenmalig minister Xiomara Maduro en haar team. Die basis zou Aruba stabiliteit en begrotingsoverschotten blijven opleveren.<\/p>\n

Tot slot feliciteerde Wever-Croes de bevolking met de financi\u00eble resultaten over 2025 en de vooruitzichten voor 2026 en de jaren daarna. Volgens haar zal de stabiele financi\u00eble fundering ervoor zorgen dat de welvaart gedeeld kan blijven worden.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
