ORANJESTAD<\/strong> \u2013 Het educatieve natuurproject Ban Midi Nos Matanan<\/em>, georganiseerd door de Directie Natuur en Milieu (DNM) en het Departamento di Cultura, in samenwerking met het ministerie van Algemene Zaken, Cultuur, Milieu en Natuur, is succesvol verlopen. Tijdens de oktobervakantie deden veel leden van de gemeenschap mee, in het bijzonder kinderen en jongeren. De actie leverde bewustwording op \u00e9n waardevolle gegevens over bomen in de natuur van Aruba.<\/p>\n

Doel van het project was om families actief te betrekken bij het zoeken, meten en registreren van bomen. De deelnemers maten de stam op 1,50 meter hoogte vanaf de grond en voerden de gegevens vervolgens in via een online enqu\u00eate. Volgens de organisatoren draagt iedere geregistreerde boom bij aan meer kennis over de Arubaanse natuur.<\/p>\n

Na de registratieperiode van 10 tot en met 19 oktober 2025 zijn nu de winnaars bekendgemaakt.<\/p>\n

In de categorie groep\/organisatie<\/strong> ging de prijs naar Daycare Smiling Kids Center<\/strong> in San Nicolas. Het kinderdagverblijf registreerde gezamenlijk een grote kwihi-boom en wist daarmee ook jonge kinderen enthousiast te maken voor de natuur.<\/p>\n

In de categorie individuele deelnemer<\/strong> werd Danique Croes<\/strong> uit Tanki Flip als winnaar aangewezen. Zij leverde samen met haar grootmoeder volgens de organisatie de beste individuele datakwaliteit aan en droeg daarmee op bijzondere wijze bij aan de databank van het project.<\/p>\n

De organisatoren feliciteren de winnaars en bedanken alle deelnemers voor hun inzet. Hun bijdrage is volgens DNM van belang voor het behoud en de studie van de flora van Aruba.<\/p>\n

De enqu\u00eate blijft voorlopig beschikbaar via de website dnmaruba.org<\/em> en via de Facebook-pagina van DNM. De dienst wil de gemeenschap blijven aanmoedigen om via burgerwetenschap mee te helpen met het meten van meer bomen.<\/p>\n

De verzamelde gegevens vormen volgens DNM een belangrijk hulpmiddel om de gezondheid en structuur van bosecosystemen op Aruba te monitoren. Het project onderstreepte ook het belang van direct contact met de natuur, met als praktische boodschap: omarm de boom en meet zijn dikte, zodat groei en ontwikkeling beter in kaart kunnen worden gebracht.<\/p>\n

DNM, DCA en het ministerie bedanken daarnaast de partners die aan het project hebben bijgedragen, waaronder Biblioteca Nacional, Aruba Conservation Foundation, Setar en Top One Toys voor de prijzen. De organisatoren hopen dat het succes van deze eerste editie meer personen en organisaties zal inspireren om actief bij te dragen aan de bescherming van de natuur op Aruba.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
