Het evenement bracht vertegenwoordigers uit de culturele, publieke en private sector samen.<\/p>\n<p>De avond werd geopend door minister-president Mike Eman. Hij onderstreepte het belang van Cas di Cultura voor Aruba en noemde cultuur een belangrijke pijler voor onderwijs, identiteit en gemeenschapsvorming. Namens de Arubaanse regering zegde hij 5 miljoen florin extra toe voor de renovatie.<\/p>\n<p>De bijeenkomst stond onder leiding van Vicky Arens, directeur-bestuurder van Cas di Cultura, en Vincent Storimans, hoofd van de Vertegenwoordiging van Nederland in Oranjestad. Beiden wezen op het belang van culturele samenwerking binnen het Koninkrijk en op het behoud van het culturele erfgoed van Aruba.<\/p>\n<p>Ook Ronella Croes, CEO van de Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA), en Roland Croes, directeur van Setar, spraken tijdens de avond over de maatschappelijke waarde van cultuur. ATA kondigde daarbij een bijdrage van 1 miljoen florin aan.<\/p>\n<p>De benefietavond vond plaats in de ballroom van het Hilton Aruba Caribbean Resort &amp; Casino en had het karakter van een cocktailavond met muzikale optredens. Voor de muzikale omlijsting zorgde het Rever\u00f3n Trio, samen met gastartiesten Qiao Chen Solomon op viool en Joel Pag\u00e1n op altviool.<\/p>\n<p>Tijdens de avond werd ook stilgestaan bij de voortgang van de fondsenwerving. Volgens de organisatie is inmiddels circa 63 procent van het benodigde bedrag van 17 miljoen florin toegezegd.
