ORANJESTAD<\/strong> \u2013 Claudia de Cuba heeft op 1 oktober 2025 met succes haar scriptie verdedigd en daarmee de titel Bachelor of Arts<\/em> behaald binnen de opleiding Organization, Governance and Management (OGM) van de Faculteit der Kunsten en Wetenschappen van de Universiteit van Aruba.<\/p>\n

De Cuba verdedigde haar thesis, getiteld From social cohesion to community well-being: resident perceptions of the BAN BIBA BARIO initiatives in Aruba<\/em>, tegenover een afstudeercommissie bestaande uit Valerie Maduro, Niels Wiskerke en Gianni Bermudez. Bij de verdediging waren ook OGM-programmamanager Ahmet Talan, familieleden, docenten van de Universiteit van Aruba en medestudenten aanwezig.<\/p>\n

In haar onderzoek stond centraal hoe het BAN BIBA BARIO-programma van CEDE Aruba volgens bewoners en projectleiders bijdraagt aan gemeenschapswelzijn en sociale cohesie.<\/p>\n

Een van de aanbevelingen in het onderzoek is om de capaciteitsontwikkeling van vrijwilligers en wijkleiders te versterken door relevante trainingen aan te bieden. Daarnaast adviseert De Cuba om meer structurele ondersteuning te bieden en vrijwilligers explicieter te waarderen, als erkenning voor hun inzet binnen de gemeenschap.<\/p>\n

De afgestudeerde sprak haar dank uit aan de docenten van de OGM-opleiding en aan de professionals die haar tijdens haar studie hebben begeleid. Ook bedankte zij iedereen binnen en buiten de Universiteit van Aruba die op welke manier dan ook aan dit traject heeft bijgedragen.<\/p>\n
