Met de overeenkomst bevestigen beide partijen hun gezamenlijke inzet om het Arubaanse gezondheidssysteem te versterken en het welzijn van de bevolking te bevorderen.<\/p>\n<p>De overeenkomst werd ondertekend door PAHO-directeur dr. Jarbas Barbosa en minister drs. Mervin Wyatt-Ras van Volksgezondheid, Sociale Zaken, Ouderenzorg en Verslavingszorg tijdens een bilaterale bijeenkomst op het hoofdkantoor van PAHO in Washington D.C.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens Barbosa onderstreept de overeenkomst het belang van de gezamenlijke inspanningen om de gezondheid en het welzijn op Aruba te verbeteren. Hij stelde dat de samenwerkingsstrategie de gedeelde inzet weerspiegelt voor gelijkheid in de gezondheidszorg en duurzame ontwikkeling, en ervoor zorgt dat de technische samenwerking aansluit bij de nationale prioriteiten en behoeften van Aruba.<\/p>\n<p>De strategie bevat drie hoofdpunten voor de komende vijf jaar. Ten eerste moet het gezondheidssysteem verder worden versterkt om de universele toegang tot zorg voor alle leeftijden uit te breiden. Daarnaast wordt ingezet op betere preventie en controle van overdraagbare en niet-overdraagbare ziekten, waarbij ook mentale gezondheid nadrukkelijk wordt meegenomen. Verder willen de betrokken partijen de samenwerking tussen verschillende sectoren formaliseren via het principe \u2018Gezondheid in alle beleidsterreinen\u2019, om sociale en milieufactoren die de gezondheid be\u00efnvloeden beter aan te pakken.<\/p>\n<p>De ontwikkeling van de strategie werd geco\u00f6rdineerd door het PAHO\/WHO-kantoor voor Trinidad en Tobago en was gebaseerd op een nationaal consultatieproces dat in oktober 2024 op Aruba plaatsvond. Daarbij waren vertegenwoordigers betrokken van de Directie Volksgezondheid Aruba, diverse ministeries en overheidsdiensten, organisaties, professionals uit de gezondheidssector en VN-agentschappen. Doel was een strategische agenda op te stellen die aansluit bij het Nationaal Plan voor Gezondheid en Ontwikkeling 2025-2030.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens de Directie Volksgezondheid vormt de ondertekening van de CCS een volgende stap in de technische samenwerking tussen PAHO en Aruba.
