ORANJESTAD \u2014 De Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) heeft recentelijk een bijeenkomst georganiseerd met leiders, experts en partners uit de toeristische sector in St. Regis Aruba. De conferentie stond in het teken van de voorbereiding op Wereldtoerismedag 2025, die op 27 september officieel wordt gevierd in Melaka, Maleisi\u00eb, onder het mondiale thema \u2018Toerisme en duurzame transformatie\u2019<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Volgens ATA lag de nadruk tijdens de bijeenkomst op de rol van toerisme als aanjager van sociale vooruitgang, innovatie en duurzame groei. Minister van Toerisme, Transport en Arbeid Wendrick Cicilia opende het programma met een welkomstwoord.<\/p>\n

Aaron Sal\u0101, president en CEO van het Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau, sprak vervolgens over de ontwikkeling van regeneratief toerisme in Hawa\u00ef. Daarbij ging hij in op de manier waarop toerisme kan worden afgestemd op de waarden van de gemeenschap, duurzaamheid en bredere systeemverandering.<\/p>\n

Daarna nam ATA-CEO Ronella Croes het woord. Tijdens haar bijdrage werd ook de introductie van de Nominate Your Local Vacation Hero Award 2025<\/em> toegelicht. Met deze onderscheiding werden drie lokale personen in het zonnetje gezet vanwege hun blijvende positieve impact op bezoekers, door middel van vriendelijkheid, gastvrijheid en culturele trots.<\/p>\n

Zeek Coleman, vice-president voor de Amerika\u2019s bij Tourism Economics, onderdeel van Oxford Economics, presenteerde vervolgens een analyse over de invloed van economische verschuivingen in de Verenigde Staten op de vraag naar reizen en de mogelijke gevolgen daarvan voor Aruba.<\/p>\n

Het programma werd afgesloten met een paneldiscussie en een vraag-en-antwoordsessie. Deelnemers kregen daarbij gelegenheid om van gedachten te wisselen over de ontwikkeling van een duurzamere, inclusievere en veerkrachtigere toeristische sector.<\/p>\n

Met het thema van dit jaar wordt volgens de organisatie een beroep gedaan op overheden, bedrijfsleven en gemeenschappen om samen te werken aan een toerismesector die niet alleen economische groei stimuleert, maar ook bijdraagt aan onderwijs, werkgelegenheid, gelijke kansen en milieubescherming.<\/p>\n

Met de bijeenkomst onderstreept Aruba opnieuw de ambitie om duurzaamheid, weerbaarheid en sociale inclusie centraal te stellen in de verdere ontwikkeling van het toerisme op het eiland.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
