Aanleiding is volgens de partij een overheidsproject rond elektrische voertuigen, waarbij minister Geoffrey Wever departementen zou hebben opgedragen om na afloop van bestaande leasecontracten over te stappen op elektrische auto\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens MEP heeft de minister hierover een brief gestuurd aan alle overheidsdiensten. In die brief zou zijn aangegeven dat bij het vernieuwen van leasecontracten gekozen moet worden voor elektrische voertuigen, ook als de leasekosten hoger uitvallen. Die meerkosten zouden volgens de redenering van het ministerie worden gecompenseerd door lagere uitgaven aan brandstof.<\/p>\n<p>MEP stelt dat de gang van zaken vragen oproept, mede omdat partijen die nu deel uitmaken van de coalitie in het verleden kritisch waren op vergelijkbare uitgaven. De oppositiepartij vindt het daarom opmerkelijk dat nu niet om \u00e9\u00e9n voertuig, maar om mogelijk honderden leaseauto\u2019s zou gaan.<\/p>\n<p>De kern van de kritiek is dat het ministerie volgens MEP zonder openbare aanbesteding zou handelen. De partij zegt dat de voertuigen ogenschijnlijk terechtkomen bij Green Wheels, een bedrijf dat door MEP wordt aangeduid als sponsor van Partido Futuro. Volgens de oppositie is dat in strijd met de regels voor overheidsaanbestedingen en met de vereiste transparantie.<\/p>\n<p>MEP wijst erop dat de kwestie eerder in het parlement is aangekaart. De fractie zegt in het verleden al schriftelijke vragen te hebben gesteld, maar stelt dat daarop geen inhoudelijk antwoord is gekomen. Ook meldt de partij dat er naar verluidt een klacht is ingediend tegen het betrokken bedrijf.<\/p>\n<p>De fractie kondigt aan opnieuw te zullen aandringen op duidelijkheid van minister Wever.
