ORANJESTAD \u2014 Het bestuurlijk akkoord dat voormalig premier Evelyn Wever-Croes in juni 2024 ondertekende, was geen bindende overeenkomst. Dat stelt MEP-Statenlid Rocco Tjon in een reactie op uitlatingen van de huidige coalitiepartijen, die volgens hem ten onrechte beweren dat de Staten destijds niet zijn ge\u00efnformeerd.<\/p>\n

Volgens Tjon blijkt uit offici\u00eble oproepingen dat Wever-Croes al in 2023 in een openbare Statenvergadering tekst en uitleg gaf over het traject. Tijdens die vergadering werden moties aangenomen die de kaders voor de onderhandelingen vastlegden. In mei 2024 zou zij opnieuw in een openbare vergadering naar de Staten zijn gekomen om toe te lichten dat de onderhandelingen waren afgerond en dat zij het akkoord zou ondertekenen.<\/p>\n

Tjon wijst erop dat deze vergaderingen openbaar waren en voor burgers te volgen. Daarmee verwerpt hij de suggestie dat het parlement buiten spel zou zijn gezet. Volgens hem waren de Staten juist rechtstreeks betrokken bij het proces en hebben zij zelf de hoofdlijnen voor de onderhandelingen bepaald.<\/p>\n

Verder benadrukt het Statenlid dat in het akkoord expliciet was opgenomen dat de rente bij overeenstemming zou worden verlaagd, maar bij het uitblijven daarvan juist zou stijgen. Volgens Tjon toont dit aan dat het onderhandelingsresultaat geen definitieve verplichting voor Aruba inhield.<\/p>\n

Met zijn verklaring reageert Tjon op de discussie over de totstandkoming van het bestuurlijk akkoord en de rol die de Staten daarbij hebben gespeeld.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
