ORANJESTAD \u2014 Dr. Robertico Croes heeft zijn boek A Journey to Happiness<\/em> overhandigd aan de directeur van de Biblioteca Nacional Aruba, Astrid Britten. De publicatie wordt opgenomen in de Nationale Collectie van de bibliotheek.<\/p>\n

In het boek onderzoekt Croes de impact van toerisme op zowel reizigers als de gemeenschappen die zij bezoeken. Daarbij staat centraal hoe toerisme bijdraagt aan geluk en welzijn van individuen. Volgens de auteur heeft toerisme voordelen, maar zijn er ook multidimensionale effecten op onder meer cultuur, milieu en sociale verhoudingen.<\/p>\n

Croes pleit in zijn werk voor een evenwichtige benadering van toerisme, waarbij het welzijn van mensen een centrale plaats krijgt in beleid en praktijk. Daarmee is het boek niet alleen relevant voor professionals in de toeristische sector, maar ook voor studenten.<\/p>\n

Dr. Robertico Croes is professor aan het UCF Rosen College of Hospitality Management. Eerder was hij op Aruba minister van Toerisme en Economische Zaken van 1994 tot 1998 en minister van Financi\u00ebn van 1998 tot 2001. Daarnaast is hij ook bekend als dichter.<\/p>\n

De Biblioteca Nacional Aruba heeft al meerdere werken van Croes in de collectie, waaronder Potret di un cara desconoci<\/em>, onder de naam Tico Croes en ge\u00efllustreerd door beeldend kunstenaar Giolina Henriquez, evenals Alma sangra<\/em>, gepubliceerd onder het pseudoniem Tikoli.<\/p>\n
