De Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) heeft haar steun bevestigd aan de achtste editie van ArtWeek Aruba, die van 1 tot en met 7 september 2025 wordt gehouden in de straten van San Nicolas. Het thema van dit jaar is Art for Justice<\/em>, met aandacht voor eenheid, reflectie en verandering via kunst.<\/p>\n

Volgens ATA vormt ArtWeek Aruba een platform om de creatieve rijkdom en culturele diversiteit van het eiland zichtbaar te maken. Tegelijk wil het evenement gesprekken stimuleren over rechtvaardigheid en gelijkheid.<\/p>\n

De culturele week begint met Art Table: Brushstrokes for Justice<\/em>, een schilderervaring in de openlucht. Meer dan honderd kunstliefhebbers krijgen daarbij begeleiding van kunstenaars om gezamenlijk aan een doek te werken rond de thema\u2019s rechtvaardigheid, gelijkheid en empathie.<\/p>\n

Op 3 september staat Art Fashion: Justice on the Runway<\/em> op het programma. Tijdens deze activiteit presenteren ontwerpers uit Aruba en het buitenland collecties die maatschappelijke normen ter discussie stellen en mode inzetten als visuele vorm van activisme.<\/p>\n

Het programma wordt afgesloten met de Aruba Art Fair<\/em>, een driedaags festival van 5 tot en met 7 september. Meer dan honderd kunstenaars nemen daaraan deel. Bezoekers kunnen er terecht voor vier immersieve galerie\u00ebn, muurschilderingen, presentaties, live demonstraties en een internationaal culinair aanbod. Ook worden installaties en kunstwerken getoond die ongelijkheid aan de kaak stellen en gemeenschappen die minder vertegenwoordigd zijn een stem geven.<\/p>\n

ATA benadrukt dat het evenement voor de organisatie meer is dan alleen een festival. In samenwerking met lokale scholen, waaronder Filomena College MAVO, zijn workshops georganiseerd waarbij leerlingen eigen kunstwerken maakten. Deze werken zullen tijdens de Aruba Art Fair voor het publiek te zien zijn.<\/p>\n

Volgens ATA biedt dit scholieren de kans om hun creatieve stem te ontwikkelen en hun werk aan een breder publiek te tonen. Voor veel leerlingen is het de eerste keer dat hun kunst in zo\u2019n setting wordt gepresenteerd.<\/p>\n

Met de steun aan ArtWeek Aruba zegt ATA te blijven investeren in culturele initiatieven die bijdragen aan de internationale uitstraling van Aruba en tegelijk de identiteit van het eiland versterken als meer dan alleen een zon- en strandbestemming. De organisatie positioneert Aruba daarmee ook als creatieve en inclusieve bestemming in het Caribisch gebied.<\/p>\n
