SANTA CRUZ \u2014 Het Korps Politie Aruba (KPA) heeft vorige week samen met de andere korpschefs binnen het College van Korpschefs een bezoek gebracht aan de organisatie CARICOM IMPACS in Barbados. Tijdens dat bezoek werd samen met de uitvoerend directeur van CARICOM IMPACS, luitenant-kolonel Michael Jones, een letter of intent ondertekend.<\/p>\n

Met de intentieverklaring willen de betrokken partijen de regionale samenwerking versterken in de aanpak van georganiseerde criminaliteit aan de grenzen. Daarbij wordt onder meer gewezen op aanhoudend vuurwapengeweld, kwetsbaarheid voor cyberaanvallen, mensenhandel, mensensmokkel en drugshandel.<\/p>\n

Een belangrijk onderdeel van de overeenkomst is het delen van informatie. Volgens het KPA is samenwerking op het gebied van forensische expertise, digitale dreigingen en grenscriminaliteit van groot belang om sneller en effectiever op te treden. Door gegevens, signalen en analyses uit te wisselen, moet de gezamenlijke slagkracht binnen de Caribische regio worden vergroot.<\/p>\n

Korpschef Ramon Arnhem was niet aanwezig in Barbados, omdat het Korps Politie Aruba op dat moment het 39-jarig bestaan vierde. Na overleg met minister van Justitie Arthur Dowers stemde Arnhem alsnog in met de ondertekening van de intentieverklaring.<\/p>\n

Het College van Korpschefs werkt gezamenlijk aan versterking van de politi\u00eble samenwerking in het Caribisch gebied. De ondertekening van de letter of intent met CARICOM IMPACS past volgens het KPA binnen die bredere strategie om de weerbaarheid tegen ondermijnende criminaliteit te vergroten.<\/p>\n

Het College van Korpschefs zegt zich ook in de komende periode te blijven inzetten voor versterking van de operationele capaciteit en voor verbetering van de voorwaarden die nodig zijn voor goede politiezorg in de regio.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
