MACUARIMA<\/strong> \u2014 De Korps Politie Aruba (KPA) waarschuwt samen met de Veiligheidsdienst Aruba (VDA) voor een gevaarlijke cybertrend op het eiland. Volgens de autoriteiten circuleren er momenteel steeds meer valse e-mails, zogeheten phishingmails, die bedoeld zijn om ontvangers te misleiden.<\/p>\n

De berichten lijken vaak afkomstig te zijn van iemand die de ontvanger kent, zoals een vriend, familielid of collega. In veel gevallen bevat de e-mail een link of een bijlage waarbij criminelen zich voordoen als bekende diensten als Adobe, DocuSign of SharePoint, om zo vertrouwen te wekken. Vaak wordt in de berichten aangedrongen op snelle actie.<\/p>\n

Volgens KPA en VDA is het risico groot dat criminelen toegang krijgen tot een e-mailaccount zodra op een link wordt geklikt of een bestand wordt geopend. Vanuit dat gehackte account kunnen vervolgens opnieuw valse berichten worden verstuurd naar contactpersonen, waardoor de phishingmails zich verder verspreiden.<\/p>\n

De autoriteiten adviseren iedereen die op een verdachte link heeft geklikt of een bestand heeft geopend om zo snel mogelijk het wachtwoord van zijn of haar e-mailaccount te wijzigen, zowel voor Outlook (Microsoft) als Gmail. Ook wordt aangeraden om op alle apparaten uit te loggen en actieve sessies af te sluiten.<\/p>\n

Daarnaast wordt geadviseerd om de webversie van Outlook de komende dagen zo min mogelijk te gebruiken. Als dat toch nodig is, moet na gebruik het browservenster direct worden afgesloten. Wie niet weet hoe deze stappen moeten worden uitgevoerd, wordt aangeraden hulp te vragen aan een vertrouwd persoon, zoals een familielid, vriend of collega.<\/p>\n

KPA roept burgers ook op om melding te doen bij een politiewacht wanneer zij verdachte of valse e-mails ontvangen.<\/p>\n

Volgens de politie is deze waarschuwing belangrijk omdat cybercriminelen via dergelijke aanvallen extra beveiligingslagen, zoals Microsoft Authenticator, kunnen omzeilen. Ook kunnen zij persoonlijke gegevens, zakelijke informatie en wachtwoorden buitmaken. Die gegevens worden vaak doorverkocht of gebruikt voor andere strafbare feiten.<\/p>\n

De politie benadrukt dat digitale veiligheid niet alleen van belang is voor de gebruiker zelf, maar ook voor de bescherming van familieleden, vrienden en collega\u2019s. Voorkomen is volgens de autoriteiten eenvoudiger en goedkoper dan het herstellen van de schade na een cyberaanval.<\/p>\n

De waarschuwing komt nadat op Aruba een duidelijke toename is vastgesteld van gecompromitteerde e-mailaccounts. Lokale autoriteiten houden de situatie in de gaten. KPA en VDA roepen het publiek op om altijd eerst goed te controleren voordat op links wordt geklikt, om te voorkomen slachtoffer te worden van phishing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
