MACUARIMA<\/strong> \u2014 De K9-unit van het Korps Politie Aruba (KPA) is onlangs uitgebreid met twee nieuwe politiehonden. Twee agenten van de hondenbrigade reisden daarvoor naar Nederland, waar zij gedurende twee weken een intensief traject volgden rond de overdracht en training van de dieren.<\/p>\n

De komst van de honden werd mogelijk gemaakt dankzij de goede samenwerking met het College van Korpschefs. In samenwerking met de Nationale Politie Nederland, Landelijke Expertise Operaties, volgden de Arubaanse politiemensen een programma bij het departement Speurhonden in Nunspeet.<\/p>\n

Tijdens het verblijf maakten zij kennis met de nieuwe politiehonden en met de bijbehorende trainingsmethoden. De Nederlandse collega\u2019s Menno van den Berg en Rober Toprakcan begeleidden het trainingstraject.<\/p>\n

Waarnemend korpschef mevrouw Gordon nam samen met het hoofd van de K9-unit, mevrouw Richardson, op Aruba afscheid van de agenten voor hun vertrek. Korpschef Ramon Arnhem ontmoette hen later in Nunspeet om de nieuwe politiehonden te bekijken.<\/p>\n

De twee jonge honden zijn inmiddels gereedgemaakt voor inzet binnen het KPA. Een van de honden wordt opgeleid voor de opsporing van verdovende middelen, de andere voor het opsporen van geld.<\/p>\n

Volgens het korps past de uitbreiding van de K9-unit binnen de verdere ontwikkeling van de organisatie, waarbij wordt ge\u00efnvesteerd in personeel, materieel en internationale samenwerking. Met de aanschaf van de twee nieuwe politiehonden wil het KPA de eenheid verder versterken en bijdragen aan de veiligheid van de Arubaanse gemeenschap en bezoekers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
